Web Folders is a built-in WebDAV accessibility feature to many computers running Windows. It allows you to access your SwissDisk account as a "Network Place" so that you can move, rename and save files directly onto your encrypted storage space via the familiar Windows Explorer interface.
Web Folders is supported by Windows 98, ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 2003 Server. This document outlines two methods for configuring Web Folders to access your SwissDisk account as a "Network Place", both diagram screenshots from Windows XP. Method 1 – Internet Explorer
Open Internet Explorer. Choose "Open..." from under the File menu.
You will need to enter the following server address where "myusername" will be your SwissDisk username that you selected when you signed up for the service. Please note that you must enter HTTPS at the beginning of the address. Also, you much check the box "Open as Web Folder".
- Enter the Open Address: https://disk.swissdisk.com/myusername
- Check the box: Open as Web Folder
- Click the "OK" button.
Afterward you will be asked for your SwissDisk username and password. For your convenience when connecting after rebooting or logging in, you can have Windows remember your password.
Method 2 – Add Network Place Wizard
Within the "My Network Places" window, you can "Add" a new network place. Doing so will open the following window. Click "Next".
Select "Choose another network location..." from the following window.
You will need to enter the following server address where "myusername" will be your SwissDisk username that you selected when you signed up for the service. Please note that you must enter HTTPS at the beginning of the address.
- Enter the Network Address: https://disk.swissdisk.com/myusername
- Click the "Next" button.
Afterward you will be asked for your SwissDisk username and password. For your convenience when connecting after rebooting or logging in, you can have Windows remember your password.
Enter a name for your "Network Place". This can be anything you choose.
Click "Finish".
Your SwissDisk account will now be accessible via Windows Explorer as a "Network Place".
You can now access your SwissDisk account as a "Network Place" so that you can move, rename and save files directly onto your encrypted storage space.
