Because of this, we are able to encrypt your whole personal filesystem using a 256-bit AES cipher that ensures that no one but you alone can access your files, including SwissDisk and its employees! Unlike other off-site storage services, SwissDisk uses standards-based protocols to integrate seamlessly with the computing platform of your choice. You do not need to install extra software, or learn new tools in order to use the service. Utilizing WebDAV, SwissDisk brings its unique storage solution directly within Windows Explorer and the Mac OS Finder’s interface. This gives you drag-and-drop ease of use! WebDAV is a standards-based extension to the common HTTP protocol (what you use to access web sites) which allows uploading, renaming and direct access to data as it resides on your SwissDisk storage space. In conjunction with the HTTP/WebDAV protocol, your connection to SwissDisk is secured using industry standard SSL encryption. This is the same encryption that is used to secure online transactions with your bank or online store.

Availability to your secure data is built into the SwissDisk hosting systems. We use redundant servers in multiple locations both using RAID-5 disk storage arrays. In the even of hardware or server failure there will be no downtime to our service. No backups are required for our storage system as all disk arrays are double redundant for the maximum High Availability standards.

The network and site that our servers reside are owned and operated solely by SwissDisk. None of our storage is hosted at third-party co-location centers, thus providing you the piece-of-mind that your data is being handled by one entity alone. The server itself is hardened to prevent intrusion, and protected by award winning WatchGuard firewall products. Our systems are monitored and certified daily as Hacker Safe by ScanAlert. Participation in this program ensures that your data (even though encrypted) is protected from ending up in the wrong hands.
